The Landscape Vault Pty Ltd is the custodian of the intellectual property that underpins the Landscape Archive: the engineering tools, databases, and application software, together with the TLA-185 / TLA-169 landscape-metadata specifications. It owns this IP and licenses it downstream to the operators who build on it.

The Vault is a passive holding company. It does not sell subscriptions, sign customer contracts, or process payments — that is the role of The Landscape Archive Pty Ltd, the commercial operator. The Vault stewards and powers the Landscape Archive Foundation, the non-commercial keeper of the open standard, until the Foundation incorporates.
